Honghe University (HU) is situated in Mengzi, Yunnan province, the capital city of Honghe Hani & Yi nationality Autonomous Prefecture. Honghe Prefecture, adjacent to Vietnam, has modern infrastructures as well as abundant of rich natural and humanity resources. As far as its tourism is concerned, there are many world-renowned scenic spots like the terraced fields, The Zhu Family garden and Alu Ancient Limestone Cave, which has been called ¡°the pearl of southern Yunnan¡±, has historically been of great strategic importance, both educational and commercially.
Now Honghe University has been striving to develop itself into not only a regional higher school actively serving Honghe Prefecture but also an international center of educational excellence by cultivating deep relationship with nearby Southeast Asia, as well as forming a network with universities and organizations around the world.

IRO, shorted from International Relations Office, is an administrative office in HU, who in charge of all stuff related with foreign affairs, such as international student programs, foreign teacher recruitment, cultural exchange, international cooperation and so on.
